Getting There

Gillette Stadium is in Foxborough, about 40 km south of Boston. On match days, MBTA Commuter Rail runs special game-day trains from South Station (about 55 min) — this is far and away the best option. Trains sell out for major events, so book in advance. Rideshare and driving are alternatives but traffic after matches is severe.

Public transit

  • MBTA Commuter Rail match-day service: South Station to Foxborough/Patriot Place — about 55 minutes
  • Trains run before and after major events — book early as capacity is limited
  • Check mbta.com/events for game-day schedules close to each match date

Rideshare

  • Rideshare from Downtown Boston to Gillette takes 45–60 min without traffic
  • Post-match rideshare surge from Foxborough is extreme — wait 45+ minutes or take the train back
  • Designated rideshare zones at Patriot Place adjacent to the stadium

Driving and parking

  • Gillette Stadium has extensive parking — pre-book through the official lots online
  • Route 1 and I-95 back up severely after matches — plan a 90-minute buffer for departure
  • Patriot Place adjacent to the stadium has restaurants and shops to occupy time post-match while traffic clears

Walking and biking

  • Not walkable from Boston — Foxborough is a suburban location
  • Patriot Place around the stadium is walkable for restaurants and pre-match activities

Match-day tips

  • Book Commuter Rail tickets before match day — they sell out for major events
  • Patriot Place restaurants and bars are great for post-match dining while waiting for traffic to clear
  • The stadium can be cold in the evening — bring a layer regardless of the forecast
