Getting around
Airports
Benito Juárez International (MEX) sits close to the city centre and connects by Metro Line 5 and authorised airport taxis. Felipe Ángeles (NLU) is further north and generally requires a longer road transfer.
Local transit
The Metro is extensive and very cheap, and Line 2 plus the Tren Ligero reach Estadio Azteca. Traffic above ground is heavy at almost all hours, so rail beats road for event days. Ride-hailing apps are widely used and generally preferred over street taxis.

Friday
Stay in Roma Norte or Condesa. Both are central, walkable, full of restaurants, and connected to the Metro network that reaches the major venues.

Saturday
Estadio Azteca is far south of the centre and the trip takes longer than the map suggests. Allow well over an hour each way and go early. Altitude is a genuine factor if you are not acclimatised.

Sunday
Coyoacán market and the historic centre, then out of Benito Juárez. Traffic to the airport is unpredictable, so leave more time than seems reasonable.
Practical travel tips
Planning Mexico City
- The city sits at roughly 2,240 metres. Give yourself a day before any strenuous activity and go easy on alcohol on arrival.
- Estadio Azteca is well south of the tourist neighbourhoods. The Tren Ligero from Tasqueña is the reliable route on event days.
- Use ride-hailing apps or authorised airport taxi stands rather than hailing on the street.
- Carry some cash. Smaller restaurants and market vendors often do not take cards.
