Planning angle
The circuit is in Miami Gardens, not Miami Beach, and that distance catches out most first-time visitors. Where you stay determines whether your race weekend involves a 25 minute drive or a 75 minute one.
Fan experience
General admission moves you around the campus rather than fixing you to one grandstand. Friday practice is the cheapest day and the best chance to see the cars up close without the weekend crowd.

How to get around
What the transit network actually covers in each host city.
Miami
Metrorail and the free Metromover cover Downtown and Brickell well. Neither reaches Miami Gardens, so Hard Rock Stadium and the autodrome require driving, event shuttles, or rideshare. South Beach has no rail connection at all.

The campus is car dependent and there is no rail station at the venue. Brightline to Aventura combined with a shuttle is the most practical public transport route from downtown Miami or Fort Lauderdale. Tri-Rail serves the wider corridor with a shuttle connection on event days. Miami International Airport is around thirty minutes away in normal traffic and considerably longer during the race weekend.

There is no rail connection. Access is by car, rideshare, or event shuttle from Miami-Dade transit hubs. The drive from South Beach takes 30 to 50 minutes depending on traffic and event volume. Grand Prix weekends run dedicated park-and-ride operations that are worth using over rideshare.

Miami Gardens is roughly 20 miles north of South Beach. Expect 45 to 75 minutes each way on race weekend depending on traffic and departure time.
Where should you stay for the Miami Grand Prix?+
Aventura and Fort Lauderdale put you meaningfully closer to the circuit than South Beach or Brickell, usually at lower rates. Stay in Miami Beach only if the social side of the weekend matters more than the commute.
