Liverpool play at Anfield, a stadium wedged into residential terraced streets with no meaningful car parking and no rail station at the ground. Both main stands have been expanded in the last decade without moving the club out to a retail park, which is why the atmosphere is what it is and why the access is what it is.

Base yourself in the city centre and use the matchday buses. Liverpool is a compact, walkable city with a strong food and music scene, so the non-match half of the trip is easy. The only real logistics problem is the last two miles to the ground and the queue back afterwards.
Getting to Anfield

There is no rail or tram station at the ground. Soccerbus and regular service buses run from Liverpool city centre and from Sandhills station on matchdays, taking roughly 20 to 30 minutes. Walking from the city centre takes about 45 minutes uphill. Liverpool Lime Street is the main intercity station.

- The walk from the city centre is about forty-five minutes and genuinely uphill. Fine going, unpleasant coming back at 22:30.
