Getting around
Airports
Toronto Pearson (YYZ) connects to Union Station in 25 minutes on the UP Express, which is the single best airport rail link in North America for event travel. Billy Bishop (YTZ) sits on the Toronto Islands and is walkable to the downtown core via a short tunnel.
Local transit
The TTC subway, streetcar, and GO Transit network cover the downtown venues well. Rogers Centre and Scotiabank Arena are both a short walk from Union Station. BMO Field is served by the 509 and 511 streetcars and GO trains to Exhibition.

Stay downtown near Union Station. Almost every major venue in the city is walkable or one short transit ride from there, which is unusual for a city this size.

Saturday
A day game at the domed stadium next to the CN Tower, then the King West and Queen West bars afterwards. The whole thing works on foot.

Sunday
Kensington Market and the St Lawrence Market for food, then the UP Express to Pearson, which takes about 25 minutes from Union.
Practical travel tips
Planning Toronto
- Union Station is the hub for almost everything. Booking accommodation within a 15 minute walk of it solves most Toronto logistics.
- The UP Express from Pearson is faster and more predictable than a taxi during rush hour, and considerably cheaper.
- Prices are in Canadian dollars, which usually works in favour of American visitors. Check whether your card charges foreign transaction fees.
- Winter events are genuinely cold. January and February regularly sit well below freezing with wind off the lake.
