The Dodgers moved from Brooklyn to Los Angeles in 1958 and opened Dodger Stadium in 1962, making it the third-oldest ballpark still in use in the sport. There is no rail station at the ballpark, which is the central planning problem. The Dodger Stadium Express bus runs from Union Station and from the South Bay on game days and is free with a game ticket, which makes it the best option by a distance. Union Station itself connects Metro rail, Amtrak and regional services, so the realistic public transport route is rail to Union Station and then the shuttle.

- Echo Park and Sunset Boulevard, the closest walkable bars to the ballpark
- Chinatown, which is the nearest Metro stop and a short shuttle ride away
- Downtown LA and the Arts District for a proper evening either side

- Parking is sold by lot in advance and the exit queue after a full house is long. Buy ahead and expect to wait on the way out.
- A free shuttle runs from Union Station on game days and is the best option for anyone without a car. Metro reaches Union Station directly.
- Gates open well before first pitch and arriving early is genuinely worth it here, both for the views and to beat the parking queue.
- Evening games cool down considerably after sunset even in summer. Bring a layer.
