Kansas City Chiefs Travel Guide
The Chiefs play at Arrowhead, opened in 1972 as part of a two-stadium complex east of downtown Kansas City. The building holds around 76,000 and has twice set the recognised record for crowd noise at an outdoor stadium. The club won its first title in the 1969 season and returned to the top of the sport in the 2020s, which turned a regional following into a national one.

This is the American game-day experience at its most complete, and almost all of it happens in the parking lot. The complex sits alone off the interstate with no bar district attached, so lots open hours early and the tailgate becomes the pre-match. A visitor without a lot pass sees a fraction of what makes the trip worth taking. Barbecue and the downtown streetcar handle the rest of the weekend.

There is no rail or meaningful public transport to the stadium, and this is the single most important planning fact about the venue. The complex sits off Interstate 70 about fifteen to twenty minutes east of downtown. Realistic options are driving with a pre-purchased lot pass, a rideshare, or one of the game day shuttle services that run from downtown bars and hotels.

- The Truman Sports Complex lots themselves, which are the actual pre-game
- Power & Light District downtown, the main bar cluster and on the free streetcar
- Westport for cheaper bars and live music away from the tourist core
- Crossroads Arts District for the best food before heading out to the complex
Plan around this
- Buy a parking pass in advance. Lot passes are sold separately from match tickets and the closer lots go early.
- There is no rail or transit link to the complex. Plan on driving, a rideshare, or an organised game-day shuttle from downtown.
- Rideshare surge out of the complex after a full house is severe, and pickup zones are staged well away from the gates. Walk to the marked zone rather than ordering from where you are.
- Late-season games here are genuinely cold and the stands are exposed. Dress for the forecast rather than the calendar.

Not on regular transit. The complex is east of downtown with no rail link. Rideshare, driving with a pre-bought lot pass, or a game-day shuttle service are the options.

You need one to park at all, and the tailgate is most of what makes the trip. Passes are sold separately from tickets and sell out, so buy at the same time as the ticket.
