New York Knicks Travel Guide
The Knicks are one of the founding franchises of the league, formed in 1946, and have played at the current Madison Square Garden since it opened in 1968. The building sits directly above Penn Station in midtown Manhattan, which makes it the most accessible major arena in American sport. The club won championships in 1970 and 1973 and the intervening decades have done nothing to reduce how loud the place gets.

You can walk from a midtown hotel, arrive twenty minutes before tip-off and be back in a bar within ten minutes of the final buzzer. The arena is also the busiest in the world by event count, so a visitor with flexible dates can usually find something on: basketball, hockey, boxing or a concert.

- The arena is directly above Penn Station, served by multiple subway lines plus regional and intercity rail. There is no reason to take a taxi.
- Ticket prices here are among the highest in the league and courtside pricing is a different market entirely. Upper bowl seats are still a good experience in this building.
- The arena hosts basketball, hockey, boxing and concerts, sometimes on consecutive nights. Check what is actually on your date.
- Bag policy is strict and enforced at the door. Travel light, there is no storage.
